The Saanich Board of Education is pleased to share the proposed school calendars for 2017/18 and 2018/19. Based on feedback in previous years, Saanich School District #63 has collaborated with Greater Victoria School District #61 and Sooke School District #62 to align school calendar dates wherever possible.
Thank you for providing feedback in respect of the Proposed School Calendars for 2017/18 and 2018/19. Responses have been collated for consideration by the Board.
Calendars will be finalised at the Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017.
The Ministry of Education and the BC Teachers Federation have recently reached an agreement that will add over 1000 teachers to the education system in BC. For Saanich this means we will soon be able to hire 12 to 13 new teachers, some in specialist support
All Children born in 2012 are eligible to register for Full Day Kindergarten. Registration will take place January 30 - February 3, 2017 at your neighbourhood school. French Immersion registrations are accepted at Deep Cove Elementary and Keating Elementary.

B.C. teachers and students in grades 10 to 12 will have more time to start using the draft new curriculum and help refine it, thanks to a one-year extension of the implementation period. This adjustment provides more time for educators to review and provide feedback on the Grade 10-12 curriculum, and also provides districts and schools more time to fully understand and prepare for the changes. In addition, the revised timeline will enable further engagement with post-secondary institutions, parents and students. Click here to learn more.
