Sangha Parent and Guardian Communication App - FAQ

 

WHAT IS SANGHA?

Sangha is a software communication tool that the School District is deploying to communicate directly with Parents / Guardians on important and time-sensitive information. 

HOW IS SANGHA BEING USED IN THE SAANICH SCHOOL DISTRICT?

We will initially be using Sangha as a School District-to-Parent/Guardian communication tool for important and time sensitive messages such as school weather closures and emergency lock downs.  We will look at expanding the possibilities for Sangha in the future, but its initial usage will be limited to these types of messages. 

When you receive your first message from the School District, you will be invited to install the Sangha app on your cell phone or personal mobile device.  Installation of the app is optional but it is more interactive and user friendly than the other options available with the service.  If you choose to not use the app, the School District will use Sangha to send you important messages via email, text, or automated call to your home phone.

SUPPORT AND TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUES

If are not receiving Sangha messages, please ensure the school has your correct, up-to-date contact information.  Schools can follow up with the District’s Technology department to troubleshoot the more complicated issues on your behalf.

HOW DOES SANGHA DECIDE HOW TO CONTACT ME?

Sangha uses the least obtrusive way to communicate to Parents/Guardians.  It will prioritize sending a message through the app, followed by email, then text message and lastly, an automated phone call to a home phone.

Emergency messages will be sent using all methods of communication we have on file to ensure the best possibility of you receiving the message:  Sangha app, email, text, phone call.

CAN I REPLY TO THE EMAILS I RECEIVE VIA THE SANGHA SYSTEM?

Do not reply to the emails or text messages that you receive.  Responses or questions go to an unmonitored account and will not be answered.

WHAT IS THE SANGHA PRIVACY POLICY?

Sangha hosts all data in Canada and uses Canadian providers to send text messages and make phone calls.  The Saanich School District places a high priority on Student and Parent/Guardian privacy, and as such sends only the information necessary for communicating with Parents/Guardians.  Please see the following links for more privacy information.
