The New Curriculum

The new curriculum will be implemented over the next 3 years. Teachers may explore and use the new K-9 curriculum this year with full implementation for the 2016-17 school year. By the 2017-18 school year, the new K-12 curriculum will be used in schools across the province.

Stelly’s Secondary - Mrs. Fischbach at the BC Legislature

Congratulations to Stelly's Secondary teacher, Mrs. Fischbach, who was selected to attend the BC Teachers' Institute on Parliamentary Democracy on now at the BC Legislature. Mrs. Fischbach will participate and experience BC’s parliamentary system first-hand, returning to Stelly's with an enhanced understanding of democracy. It is a rigorous four days of learning. We are excited for her to share with the Stelly's community about the experience.

Lochside Elementary – Outdoor Learning Centre

The Outdoor Learning Centre at Lochside Elementary was built with funding from LEPAC and volunteer labour from parents in our community. The Kalabric family has been instrumental in building the centre. Lochside would like to recognize the contributions of many people who helped fundraise for the project and volunteered their time and expertise to help complete the outdoor learning centre.

Policy 1100 Parent Involvement Meeting

Please join us for the annual POLICY 1100 PARENT INVOLVEMENT MEETING All parents are welcome to join members of the Parent Advisory Council executives along with district executive, administrators, trustees and partner group representatives for our annual parent involvement meeting. This meeting, as described in Board Policy 1100 - Parent Involvement, occurs every fall so that we can review district and ministry directions and the key role of parents and PACs.

Grade 4/5 Collaborative Inquiry and Museum Project at Brentwood Elementary

The Intermediate team at Brentwood Elementary decided to collaborate on a Social Studies Inquiry Project. To be honest, none of the six teachers involved had any idea at that time about how large the project would become, how challenging and time consuming it would be, and how transformative it would be to our teaching practice and the lives of our students.
