Message from the Board Chair

Welcome to the Saanich School District where the Board of Education, staff, parents and community work together to support student success. The Saanich Board of Education appreciates our community's strong support for students and our schools and encourages you to get involved.

There are many ways you can participate:

Be informed: Information is the key to understanding public education directions and governance and how the board makes decisions about school district priorities and budgets. We encourage you to attend our monthly committee and board meetings. Agendas for committee and public board meetings and the minutes of regular public board meetings and are posted on the website.

Talk to us: The Saanich Board of Education wants to hear from you. Time is available in committee and regular meetings to provide input or ask questions. The board also provides additional opportunities throughout the year for the public to provide input on specific topics or issues. You can reach your locally-elected board by e-mail to ask questions or give us your input. What you tell us helps shape decisions in the best interests of all students in the Saanich School District. Get involved and stay involved: Whether or not you have children in our schools, there are many places you can contribute. The Saanich School District works in partnership with several community agencies and organizations. They rely on volunteers to provide programs in our schools. Or maybe you are thinking about running for the board this November. The district holds two candidate information meetings prior to the nomination period so you can learn more about the role and time commitment of a trustee in Saanich School District.
